Crossfit Metro is for Real
I’m so excited I can barely stand myself. The paperwork’s complete, the red tape is cut, and Crossfit Metro is now an official Crossfit affiliate.
We are already starting to get emails and questions regarding where we are, when our training schedule will be up, and how much it will cost. We will attempt to answer some of these questions below.
What is Crossfit Metro?
Initially, Crossfit Metro has two primary goals:
Goal #1: To create a core group of Crossfitters who desire a place to train together without the limitations of the traditional gym environment and who embrace the “sport of fitness” methodology.
Goal #2: To introduce Crossfit methodologies and training to athletes, fitness-seekers, and those negatively tainted by “Globo”-gym experiences of the past; but, most importantly, to show these individuals what type of progress can be obtained through hard work and training dedication.
Crossfit Metro Core Group
As the founder of Crossfit Metro, and a Level 1 Certified Crossfit Trainer, my goals are to continue my Crossfit training progress through consistent physical improvement and ongoing education and technique certification.
The Crossfit Metro Core Group will train together in an environment that promotes the key principles of Crossfit training: functionality, intensity and variance. We will use the WOD at Crossfit HQ as our guide, employing a three-days on, one-day off training schedule.
The ultimate goal is to get better …together.
As a core group, we will implement the “sport of fitness” concept by keeping track of workout loads, times and progressions, and post this information for the world to see. Please note: and most crossfitters know this, but this is NOT about showing off or being better than the other guy, but instead it’s about healthy competition, where the group dynamic is used to push the training athlete to be his/her best.
To be considered as a core group member, one must have experience with fitness training and exercise, and must know, understand, and demonstrate acceptable form in the major compound lifts and movements with a burning desire to train with ultimate intensity, while also continuing to practice and perfect proper form and mechanics. {phew …what a mouthful.}
As a side note: I am interested in competing in the Crossfit affiliate challenges that arise from time to time, as well as competing in the Crossfit Games starting in 2009. Part of the goal of the core group will be approaching top condition for these types of fun and exciting levels of Crossfit competition and camaraderie.

Crossfit Fundamentals Training and Coaching
Crossfit Fundamentals Training will begin as an individualized introduction to Crossfit training methodologies. In Crossfit, exercise technique is important for ensuring the continued success of the client. When the exercises are performed correctly, it is likely that the client will continue to experience strength, flexibility, and performance gains beyond any level in which they have experienced in the past.
It’s for this reason that Crossfit Metro will begin with the basics for the introductory client and continue to scale the workouts as the client progresses in the areas of: Cardiovascular and Respiratory endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance, and Accuracy.
At Crossfit Metro, we only care about results. Nothing else matters.

Where is Crossfit Metro?
Right now, Like many Crossfit affiliate upstarts, Crossfit Metro is humbly functioning as a garage gym. I currently have enough equipment to satisfy 80% of the Crossfit WODs.

What is your fee structure?
First and foremost, never, ever will you have to worry about a contract. We are a pay as you go shop. If you are not seeing value in your training expense, you are training in the wrong place, with the wrong people. It’s that simple.
Crossfit Metro Core Group:
Core Group members will be training with me, and the other core members, as we work to push one another in the areas of intensity and WOD competition. This is not personalized coaching. We are working in a group dynamic to squeeze-out maximum potential.
The fee is basically for access to a no-rules, intense environment where we will train with intensity.
- Chalk is welcome and encouraged
- Loud music is mandatory
- Screaming, yelling and venting is acceptable
- No shirt, no shoes, no problem.
Throw away that lousy gym membership and come train like an animal …with other animals.
Individual Training and Coaching: $150/hour
Currently, I will conduct individual Crossfit training sessions for those individuals serious about fitness progress, with an absolute dedication to the goal of consistent improvement.
What I am not:
I am not interested in gossip sessions, offering relationship advice, and watching you go through the motions with limited intensity – if that’s what your looking for, I am not your trainer.
What I am:
I am someone who believes, through my own personal physical training success, that it takes real work, and true grit, to get real, honest results out of fitness training. If it were as easy as just going to the gym, all those circuit machine exercisers that flood machines by the thousands would be in shape.
They aren’t.
I will be your coach, not your sounding board, and I will ensure that you are:
- First and foremost, doing the right exercises with safe, and fundamental technique
- Employing the appropriate loads for your individual ability level, and scaling those loads as you improve your overall fitness
- Making sound decisions with regards to diet and nutrition
With Crossfit, we express our validity with performance related results rather than theory. CrossFit workouts are measurable (we time them), observable (we can see the data), and repeatable (we can repeat the exact same workout to track progress). This allows us to clearly see that we are getting more fit. Although we “compete” against others in the group, it’s ultimately you vs. you and how much you are improving over time.
